Thessaloniki

Image
I headed out to Thessaloniki on a 6 hour train ride from Athens. There I stayed with the daughters of my Mom's family friend. It was fantastic. Thessaloniki is such a different type of city, being that the University draws many students making it a college town. Here I will let these photos paint a better picture.

Athens - Archaeology and the Parthenon

Image
SO. I have been in Athens for the past few days and my goodness have I seen some amazing stuff. First of all, Athens as a city is really interesting and very different from Berlin or Copenhagen. The way the city is laid out adheres to the uneven terrain of the area. Also the fact that there are so many features of the city that are so OLD. It is simply amazing, I would get off the subway only to find beautiful artifacts from ancient greece on display. Then I went to the Museum of Archaeology. Talk about some amazing work. I will let some pictures speak for themselves here. Then the next day I went to Parthenon. Greece is amazing, Athens as well. I am honestly so blessed that I can be here in the shadows of such history.

Gemäldegalerie, First day in Berlin.

After my short break from big cities I arrived in Berlin at around noon and headed to my hostel. I had met these two travelers in my last hostel in Copenhagen and they were also in Berlin a little before me. So we met up and went to the Gemäldegalerie. This is the collection of the states paintings and let me say, it was a really good collection. I had intended on seeing "The Man with a Golden Helmet" by Rembrandt, and I saw it! Unfortunately I am not a good photographer so apologies for the photo quality... Here are some other fun pics from the day!

A quick stop before Berlin

So today and yesterday (June 11th- June 12th) I stopped off in a town outside of Rostock called Kühlungsborn. I was here to visit a family friend of our named Erisch. This little town in the countryside was perfect on my trip. Having a couple days to relax in a rural area with a friend was what I needed. Now I am on a train to Berlin b so I am excited to see where today will take me.

LEGO House

So yesterday I went to the LEGO House.... Holy shit that was amazing. This has honestly been one of the best parts of my trip so far. The LEGO House is right next to LEGOland which I did consider going to as well but I thought this would be the better choice. While LEGOland is a theme park, the House was an amazing interactive wonderland. It is hard for me to put into words what it was like so I'm gonna just show it :). There was an area where you could build cars and run them through tests like jumping a loop. I finally did it. There were building zones throughout, here were some faves. This was one of the coolest things I saw. A bunch of LEGO robots that people control like a game. Some clips. I will be posting more from the LEGO House but here is something at least.
